This Championship was run for the first time in 1960 on Selskov Speedway in Hillerod.Until 1979 it was called Junior Championship and was open to young riders and riders who did not obtain sufficient promotion points to be senior riders and get an international rider’s license.
Then it was called the B-Championship.
In 2002 the name was changed to U21 Championship, and came at the same time to follow the FIM’s rules for the class. I.e. open to riders aged 16 years, until the end of the year in which they turn 21 years old, and have a national license to 500 cc.

Note:  After the Championship final in 1960 hard criticism of  the speedway material emerged. There was far too many engine failures, and the majority of the riders were unfit to ride in a championship meeting.
